    About the franchise

Every employer claims to be a great place to work. Almost none publish the data. Best Place to Work Africa fixes that. We look at retention rates, internal promotion rates, pay-band disclosure, parental and returnship programs, learning budgets, and — most importantly — what current and former employees tell us in anonymous surveys. Winners earn a badge they can put on careers pages and recruiter materials; candidates get an honest read on where their next decade will go.

    What we're tracking

The signals that put someone on the list

    Employees stay

Retention above sector median for at least two years. Voluntary attrition, regretted-leaver rate, tenure curves — we look at the actual data, not the glassdoor rating.

    People grow

Internal promotion rate, time-to-promotion, number of lateral moves. We reward employers where a graduate can become a director without leaving.

    Pay is fair and transparent

Published pay bands, regular pay-gap reviews, and clean, documented comp philosophies. Employers hiding ranges do not make the cut.

    Leadership is accountable

Open town halls, skin in the game, survey results shared with staff, and action plans that actually ship. We verify with former employees.
