    Basic Components of a Job Acceptance Email

    Sometimes, templates are not enough. Job offers differ and thus, you may be required to craft an email exclusive to the specifics of a pending job offer from scratch.

    Although variables exist, there are some things all job acceptance emails have in common and here they are;

    1. Gratitude. Express how much you appreciate the opportunity given to you to join their workforce.

    According to this study conducted in South Africa, gratitude has been linked to employee well-being and performance in the workplace.

    Therefore, the ability to show gratitude, for even the slightest things, is a quality every recruiter is on the lookout for.

    Also, gratitude is a precedent to a positive spirit and forms the basis of many soft skills like leadership skills and time that employers find valuable.

    1. Reiterate points about salary and benefits. Many times, issues have risen out of a lack of clarity on work terms, conditions and employee welfare. Be sure you both are on the same terms, and clear up any misinformation.

    2. Negotiate terms you don’t like. The salary and employee benefits stated in the job offer may not be ideal for you, negotiate instead of outrightly declining a job offer.

    3. Confirm your resumption date. Again, this is to provide clarity and clear up any misinformation.

    4. Request further information about your first day and any documents you would be required to make available in order to make your onboarding process a lot easier and smoother.

    Finally;

    Eventually, accepting a job offer professionally comes down to declaring your intentions and quelling ambiguities surrounding the job just to ensure you and your new employer are on the same page.
